Sedation Dentistry Hanover PA Oral Sedation

Sedation Dentistry – Hanover PA – Oral Sedation

In some cases, our pediatric dentist, Dr. Blann may recommend oral sedation for your child. After careful consideration of several factors, including the age and temperament of the child, as well as the complexity of the treatment and length of treatment time needed, the doctor will determine an appropriate drinkable mixture to safely achieve the desired results. Nitrous Oxide is usually used in conjunction with the oral sedation. Although your child may become drowsy and drift off, they are not asleep during oral conscious sedation. During the sedation visit, your child is fully monitored to provide a very safe outcome.

Oral Conscious Sedation is also an option for teens and adults who are fearful, tend to gag easily, or simply wish to receive a lot of treatment in as few visits as possible. In these cases, Dr. Gordon may recommend oral sedation for his adult patients. Dr. Gordon will typically prescribe an oral sedation such as anti-anxiety pills, which are taken before a dental appointment. This can reduce anxiety and allow patients to get the treatment they need.

Both Dr. Blann and Dr. Gordon have Pennsylvania Restricted 1 Sedation permits. These permits require inspection of our facility, our emergency preparedness and our techniques.
